Walk at Main River

Hello my dears,

a while ago I made a walk with Tara near the Main river. I love this little piece of nature though usually it's crowded there (when the weather is nice).
Before we enjoyed ourselves in the nice café again.

Tara's cake

My cinnamon parfait I fell in love with

And the pretty tea set you always get there

This is next to the river. I love how there are this old and traditional buildings while you can see the modern skyscapers in the back

I really like the modern buildings of Frankfurt as well

But the traditional buildings are so special!

A shot of the river itself

And one more. The sky was so blue! But then some clouds were coming

I found this view rather special so I took a photo of it and it came out quite well

That's it for today. Have you ever visited Frankfurt? Even if it just was for a plane change? Tell me about it.

Black Forest Journey

Hello everyone,

I hope everyone had nice holidays and got lots of eggs and chocolate.
I'd like to go back a few weeks since I made a little trip to my mum's place and we went to the Schwarzwald (Black Forest) together. It still was quite cold and there was a lot of snow. I love the Schwarzwald for it's beautiful nature and the great atmosphere. It is said that witches, goblins and some other magical creatures are living there. This is what it kind of makes it so special.
I took lots and lots of photos. This is why I made this little cut here. Click to go on reading.

Café and Dinner

Hello everyone,

a while ago I have been downtown with Tara to buy some stuff and everything and whe thought why not try out a café. Finally we sat there for hours and it was really nice. They still had winter specials and it was so delicious.

Tara had some hot chocolate and a chocolate cream cake.

She said it tasted amazing! And it also looked like that!

I got some green tea. Look at the cute tea set!

It tasted really good!

And to eat I had some cinnamon parfait with hot cherries.

I loved it!

The prices were also alright. We got the cake for about 4€. The hot chocolate was the same. Tea was about 6€ and the parfait 7,50€. It's alright for a café in Frankfurt city I guess.

In the evening we decided to go to a Eritrean restaurant since we had a coupon for it. The restaurant itself didn't look that good from the outside. But the inside was comfy and nice. For each table they kind of had a private space so you were more for yourself. The service was great! They were really nice! Also the food was very delicious.

This is some Eritrean tea which actually tasted like Kinderpunsch (glogg?) without any sugar. Amazing!

We had a vegetarian plate for two persons.

Everything was very good and actually I love eating with hands!

We go there again for sure!

Recipe #10: Udon

Hello my dears,

today I would like to share a new recipe with you: Udon!

What you need for the soup:
1 pckg Udon (fresh or dried)
Mirin
Soy sauce
Tsuyu
Dashi powder
Konbu
And for the topping:
1-2 leaves cabbage
wakame
sesame
some oyster mushrooms
some snow peas
1/2 carrot

Start with the soup base first. Mix together about 400ml water, 1 tbsp mirin, soy sauce and tsuyu. Add about 1 tsp dashi powder. Then add the konbu and let it cook for about 10min. In the meantime cut the cabbage in thin stripes. Do the same with the carrot. Heat up some water in a pot and blanch the vegetables one after another. This means put them into the pot and take it out after about 10-20 seconds.
The soup should be ready now and you can add the udon. If it's fresh udon wait for another 5 min. If it's dried udon add it and let it cook until done (might take up to 10min).
Now put the udon and the soup into a bowl. Add the toppings on it and it's done!
Fresh and healthy udon!
Of course you can add also other toppings, like aburaage, eggs or whatever else you like!

If you need it to be vegetarian try this:
Instead of tsuyu and dashi use soy sauce, konbu and shiitake mushrooms. Buy the dried ones and put them into the water you will later use as soup base. After about 1 hour take them out and rinse the water through a kitchen towel (so the sand and everythin else that was inside won't be in the soup afterwards!). Now heat up the water with mushroom flavor and add konbu, soy sauce and mirin. Then proceed like in the normal recipe.

I hope you like it!
Tell me about it if you tried!

Japan 3rd part

So this is the last part of my trip to Japan. We didn't do that much anymore but I really enjoyed the time there.

On 19th was our first day in Kyoto. We visited the castle Nijo and also a shrine called Tenmangu. Afterwards we had great dinner: Wagyu. I wanted to eat it at least once.

 Salad from lunch

Lunch: Kanazawa-styled curry rice

Th following photos are from Nijo castle

So after the castle we went to Tenmangu near Kamishichiken

So since we were already next to it we walked a bit through Kamishichiken and had cake in a café.

Cream Puff for me

And strawberry roll cake for Tara

And here's our dinner

It was so delicious!

The next day we went to Kamogawa-Odori - a Geika/Maiko dancing event in Pontocho.

Our lunch: Sashimi, Tempura and Udon

And cake on afternoon: Apple pie for Tara

And Matcha Ice Cream Zenzai for me

Afterwards we walked a bit through Gion

And finally the Kamogawa-Odori started

In Gion

House in Gion

Our dinner was Okonomiyaki and Omsoba but I forgot to take a picture of the Okonomiyaki

This is the last photo. It was from 21st. We went to a Matcha restaurant that day.

I had a safe flight back home although it was really exhausting. During the whole flight where turbulences and I didn't sleep at all. Anyway I enjoyed my time in Japan and I'm looking forward going there again.

Sushi for Dinner

Hello, my dears!

A while ago I went downtown with Tara. We tried out another restaurant - where I sadly forgot to take a photo. I got some teppan yaki grilled tofu filled with spinach and lots of vegetables to it. Tara got yakiniku-don which was also very good.

Since we have lots of Japanese restaurants here and even a bento shop we thought we could get some sushi for dinner. So we took sushi to go and ate it at home. Although not everything was 'traditional sushi it was really good. They mixed tuna with mayo or took cream cheese with shrimp. It was really good!

 What we got
